Hua Hin shopping

hua hin market village Thailand is well-known around the world for its shopping. Local handicrafts, clothing, electrical goods and jewellery are all readily available at very competitive prices.

Although Bangkok will spring to most peoples' minds as the shopping centre of Thailand, Hua Hin has a great deal to offer for those who are not staying in the capital or who don't wish to travel there.

The town has a good variety of local markets, a new shopping mall (Hua Hin Market Village) and plenty of shops offering tailor-made clothing, art, optical services, camera and computer equipment and a whole range of other goods.

It will be impossible to comprehensively list all the options available to you, but we will try and outline the choices you have and where to begin looking for them.
As a general rule of thumb, negotiating prices is part of the way of life in Thailand and it can be enjoyable. If you visit some of the local markets, it will be expected that you will try to haggle. However, Hua Hin is not like other parts of the world where you can offer a third of the asking price to start with and then expect to negotiate upwards. If you try this the stall holder will normally feel insulted. It's probably more realistic that you try to achieve 10-15% off the original asking price. Remember that prices in Hua Hin are significantly lower than in the west and that whatever price you may end up with will still represent a bargain. Always haggle with a good humour. Do not get upset as this will get you nowhere. The whole idea about negoiation, after all, is that both parties walk away from the process happy with what they have. If you approach "market shopping" with this attitude, you're sure to enjoy it.

As a final aside, the larger stores and shops in town will have price-marked goods, so haggling is generally not possible - you can try though!
