Over the past six years, 2002-2007, Hua Hin has hosted an increasingly successful jazz festival. Each year this event, normally held over the first weekend in June, lasts for three days.
From quiet beginnings, it has grown into probably the biggest and most important jazz event in Thailand's calendar.
Recognition must be given to the organisers and promoters who have toiled endlessly to attract big names. Last year, their efforts were rewarded with the appearance of acts from all over the world, including Bill Bruford, Ibrahim Electric, an international cast from Europe, the US and Cuba and a wealth of up-and-coming Thai talent.
Due to size, the event in 2006 had to be moved to two beach stages and other than some teething problems with access and high tides, the event ran smoothly.
We are still awaiting details and the official press release for the 2008 Hua Hin Jazz Festival. The dates reported by TAT are June 13th-14th 2008. Please check back soon. More information : Hua Hin Jazz Festival
2007 was a great event, held on the 8th and 9th of June with a top line-up of performers. The lineup can be seen below:
There was only one stage and two nights for the 2007 Hua Hin Jazz Festival unlike previous jazz festivals.
. The highlights were Montefiori Cocktail (left) on the Friday and Caroline Henderson (right) on the Saturday. The turnout was higher than expected with thousands arriving from Bangkok for the two day event. The beach atmosphere was simply electric as local and international jazz artists showcased their talents.
